Q. What are the benefits of an Active Smile Dental Care Plan?
A. Active Smile Dental Care is a comprehensive dental plan for those who favour the security of knowing that all necessary dental bills are covered with the benefits of providing comprehensive cover for both your preventative and routine restorative dental care needs.

Q. Is Active Smile Dental Care Plan insurance?
A. No, our Active Smile Dental Care Plan is a maintenance contract that allows your dentist to provide you with a planned preventive dental care programme. Through modern dental knowledge and techniques your dentist can help you achieve and maintain healthy teeth and gums for a lifetime. However, Active Smile arranges, on your behalf, supplementary insurance to cover the cost of treatment required as a result of an accident or temporary treatment in the event of an emergency

Q. How is the cost of my plan calculated?
A. Your dentist at our practice will complete a simple chart that takes into account your dental history, the current health of your teeth and gums and the preventive care programme recommended. These factors will place you in a specified category from A to E for which we have already calculated the cost of each category.

Q. What does my plan cover?
A. In return for your monthly payment you are entitled to regular examinations and Hygiene treatment, including scaling and polishing, ongoing advice and a personal preventive programme and all the routine dental treatment, normally received from your general dental practice, needed to help you maintain a healthy smile. You also automatically receive supplementary Insurance which can help you with dental injuries or dental emergencies either at home or abroad. Our patient advisors can provide you with further details of the benefits that our Active Smile Dental Care Plans provide.

Q. What is not covered by my plan?
A. Excluded are, laboratory fees for things like crowns, bridges, dentures and specialist treatment not normally covered by routine general dentistry such as cosmetic and orthodontic treatments, dental implants and specialist referrals. A complete list of what is excluded is provided within your contract. Our patient advisors can provide you with a copy of this list.

Q. What are the available payment options for my plan?
A.
You can choose to pay your fee monthly by direct debit, or annually by cheque or credit card. The payment is made to Practice Plan, who are our collecting and administration agent for all of our Active Smile Dental Care Plan members.

Q. How is my payment spent?
A. A small percentage of your payment is retained by Practice Plan to cover administration and your emergency dental insurance. The bulk of your payment is sent to your dentist to cover your dental care.

Q. Is there a registration fee to join?
A. Yes, there is a once-only fee of £9.50 debited during the first month of your contract to cover initial set-up costs of administration

Q. Once I have signed an Active Smile Dental Care Plan contract, can I cancel it?
A.
Yes, if you wish you can cancel your contract at any time by giving 21 days notice in writing to our practice and to Practice Plan. The contract will then end on the last day of the month. You can find out all the details of your membership on the copies of your contract.
